About the Collection

The word “memorabilia” refers to objects collected and held onto because of their historical significance. I don’t feel like memorabilia should be reserved for famous action stars and MLB legends… we all have memorabilia that we collect over time. Some of the pieces don’t seem valuable in the moment, but when reflecting back, they end up meaning so much to us. They don’t all have monetary value but the value they hold in our lives can't be overstated. I’m excited to share some of my memorabilia with you all.

Each item in this collection features imagery symbolizing some of the most foundational pieces of my history as an artist and human. We’ve included a legend as part of each design with brief explanations, written by me, providing the significance of each individual image.

This project is very near and dear to my heart. At the onset of brainstorming a new merch collection, the team at New Studio asked me to do a little exercise to help get the creative gears turning: reflect back on my life so far to identify some of the objects, places, routines, and memories that have shaped me, both as a musician and as a human being. I was slightly skeptical, but once I got going, it was hard to stop. So many beautiful memories emerged in my mind—the old hi-fi equipment we used to record freestyles with in Brady’s attic, the smell of Nag Champa incense at the local record shop we copped CDs from in middle school, the Suzuki violin tapes my Dad had me listen to each night (at my violin teacher’s request), renting B-horror movies from the seemingly endless collection at Movie Madness, my old Volvo, gorging our stomachs at American Dream Pizza, the trusty old red Fostex recorder we made some of our first albums on, and so much more.

When I had finished excavating all the memories I could, I dusted them off and shared my list with the team, and our idea for this collection began to take shape…

I present to you: THE MEMORABILIA COLLECTION.
